WELCOME TO

MARCHINGTON PARISH NEWS

The parish magazine for St Peter's Marchington and St John's Marchington Woodlands.

The October magazine tells you what has been happening in the villages during September and any news about what is to come in October.

There is good news for readers of Parish News, as door-to-door deliveries of the magazine in hard copy recommence for October.

In September there was good news for St Peter's and St John's Churches - services recommenced in both with careful provisions to keep people safe. Much as we have appreciated the services on Zoom and Youtube that Maggie has worked so hard to provide for us, it was great to be back in church and to be able to see friends again.

Videos of the services at St Peter's are now on our Youtube channel so that anyone who does not yet feel confident to attend church can see them. If you would like to receive a direct link to the latest service via your email, please contact Maggie Hatchard. On 20th September, the Rev Margaret Sherwin presided at the first communion service to be held at St Peter's. The video of this service is below.

The work of the churches has continued during lockdown, but the closure of church buildings has lead to a fall in parish income. If you would like to donate to either St Peter's or St John's Church, just click on the Donate Now button below.

On the entertainment front, there was a welcome event in September, and something to look forward to from October onwards.

Residents of Woodland Views had a musical treat in September in the form of a concert by Lucy Crowe, a well-known soprano who hails from Marchington, and her husband Joe Walters. Read all about it in the October magazine!

Here is Lucy singing We'll Gather Lilacs,  a song she first sang with the Marchington Singers.

And music and dining nights will commence indoors at the Dog and Partridge from October - see the October magazine for details.

Ray Hatfield & Keith Buck, who will be appearing at the Dog and Partridge on 25th October
